Our team is making every attempt to serve clients and families in a stable way by providing Telehealth OT Services to:
Existing clients
New clients (in our area and other locations in the province)
Parents and caregivers (using a ‘Parent Coaching’ model, which is effective if the client’s attention or interest in the screen itself is not established)
Our Telehealth services, to be effective, require:
A stable internet connection and a device such as a smart Phone, iPAD /Tablet or computer
An adult nearby to offer technical (or other) support as needed
We have met a few clients who are able to effectively attend a Telehealth session without a caregiver directly supporting, however most do best doing OT alongside their parent/caregiver and this is our preferred method of delivery.
During a session we may ask to use commonly found household objects (paper, muffin cups, utensils, leaves, straws, balloons, cotton balls, etc.).
What Is Telehealth?
Telehealth is an online format used to provide health care services. It is when an individual receives their therapy session through a screen (computer, tablet, phone), rather than in person. In a session you may see the therapist’s face through the video call, or you may do activities or observe another image.
Sharpe OT Services Inc. is using Telehealth to offer many of the services you would receive in an in person session, such as practicing social skills, executive functioning, fine motor, coordination and balance. For more information on occupational therapy see the “Services: Frequently Asked Questions” on our website.
Many Telehealth sessions use a parent coaching system, where we guide the parent to do activities with their child. The parent acts as the OT’s hands in the session. Parent coaching offers a unique opportunity for caregivers to learn to best support their child. You use strategies and build confidence in your ability to guide and help your child.
Fees are:
$175 for a 60 minute session (1.25 hours x $140.00 per hour), including provision of home program ideas to complete between sessions (this includes time to enter any ‘home practice’ items or impressions into our secure client portal and decide on recommendations/next steps)

Our team would love to ‘paint a picture’ of what Telehealth might look like for your individual child, as (similar to all our services) each program is unique. Our team has had a lot of fun participating in Professional Development in this new area of practice. See our ‘Staff Training’ Page for details.
